Ingredients

Scale

Marinated beef:

  • 350g of steak, I used Rib-eye steak
  • 1 tbsp of soy sauce
  • 1 tsp of sesame oil
  • 1 tsp of Chinese cooking wine
  • 1/2 tsp of baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp of salt
  • 1/2 tsp of pepper
  • 1 tbsp of cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp of oil

 

Sauce:

  • 1 tbsp of soy sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp of dark soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp of oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp of sugar
  • 1/2 tsp of white pepper
  • 1 tsp of sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp of chili oil

Others:

  • 2 tbsp of oil
  • 1 shallot
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 2 cups of cooked rice or day old rice

 

To garnish:

  • Chili oil
  • Sesame seeds
  • Fried shallots

Instructions

  1. First, marinade the beef with soy sauce, sesame oil, Chinese cooking wine, baking soda, salt, pepper, cornstarch and oil. Set aside for at least 20 minutes.
  2. In a pan, heat 1 tbsp of oil over high heat. Add the beef and stir fry the beef until golden brown for 2-3 minutes. Set aside.
  3. Next, blanch the broccoli with hot water for at least 30 seconds - 1 minute. Set aside.
  4. In the same pan, heat another 1 tbsp of oil over high heat. Add the garlic and shallot. Stir fry for 1 minute or until fragrant.
  5. Add in the broccoli and saute for 1 minute. Then, add the day old rice followed by the sauce and sauté on high heat for 2 minutes.
  6. Add the cooked beef and give it a final mix.
  7. Plate your fried rice, garnish with chili oil, sesame seeds and fried shallots. Enjoy!
