Tender chicken thigh stir-fried with bell peppers and onion in a savory black pepper sauce. This black pepper chicken is so yum and comes together in under 30 minutes!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g chicken thigh, diced

Marinade:

  • 1 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Chinese cooking wine or dry sherry
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp pepper

Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Chinese cooking wine
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp coarsely ground black pepper
  • 1/8 tsp salt

Stir-fry:

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp ginger, minced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 brown onion, chopped
  • 2 bell peppers, chopped (green and red)

Garnish:

  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Dice the chicken into bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a bowl, marinate the chicken with light soy sauce, Chinese cooking wine, cornstarch, vegetable oil, salt, and pepper.
  3. In another bowl, combine all the sauce ingredients and set aside.
  4. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan over medium heat.
  5. Add minced garlic and ginger to the pan and fry until fragrant.
  6. Add chopped brown onion and bell peppers. Cook for 2 minutes or until softened.
  7. Add the marinated chicken back to the pan along with the prepared sauce.
  8. Stir and cook until the sauce thickens.
  9. Garnish with sesame seeds.
  10. Serve hot with rice. Enjoy your delicious black pepper chicken!
